The airport roadways cannot be used for parking, but offloading passengers and their luggage items is permitted. Motorists who are simply dropping off departing passengers may stop outside of the relevant terminal building for a minute or two. For now the three terminal buildings are adequate in size for the number of passengers they handle each year. However, in the future, Terminal A may be redeveloped to be one large terminal for the airport, and the other two (B and C) will either be demolished or used for offices. Each has its own facilities, for example, check-in counters, baggage reclaim halls, shops, restaurants and airline gates. The airport’s terminals are decentralized, which means that there is no central terminal building. Once at the airport motorists can choose a suitable parking area in which to leave their vehicles whilst away. It should not take much longer than twenty minutes to reach MCI from central Kansas City. The road leading up to the terminals and parking areas is the L P Cookingham Drive. It is linked to the city by several large roads, including the Interstates 29 and 435, while the Interstate 35 is also important for airport access. The city’s airport is nearby to the areas of Gladstone, Liberty, Leavenworth and Smithville, and is to the northwest of the downtown area. Kansas City is found on the border between Missouri and Kansas, and is nearby to Topeka, St Joseph, Olathe and Columbia. It is also surrounded by the states of Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Kansas and Oklahoma. The state of Missouri is south of Iowa and to the north of Arkansas. Kansas City International Airport Parking is available in several areas, some which are nearby the terminal buildings and others that require a shuttle service. Formerly, the airport’s name was Mid-Continent International, and therefore it’s IATA code is MCI. The airport has several buildings for passenger facilities that are served by a number of well-known airline companies which offer non-stop departure flights to 45 cities in the United States, Canada and Mexico. It is just fifteen miles from Kansas City, in the state of Missouri, and handles over ten million passengers every year. Kansas City International Airport is one of the major airports in the United States of America.
